APS Offers You World-class Preclinical Research Facilities

Conveniently located in the heart of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Medical Device Biotech cluster, APS facilities are ISO 17025 accredited, AAALAC accredited, USDA licensed, and GLP compliant. APS operates a multi-million dollar, 8 acre campus with over 70,000 total square feet of laboratory and office facility space.

APS’ 45,000 square feet main facility is primarily dedicated to interventional and surgical research. APS has one of the largest capacities in the world for medical device research including three Siemens digital cardiac cath lab suites, two surgical operating suites, and space for over 500 large animals on site. We have extensive experience across the entire range of organ systems. We can accommodate short or long term studies of any size or scale, and our flexible on-site animal housing can be adapted to accommodate the most challenging of animal models including tethered devices such as left ventricular assists (LVAD) and monitoring requirements.

The APS pathology department has a fully equipped, 5,000 square foot, histopathology and SEM laboratory in the main facility. APS pathology lab is operated by board certified histotechnicians and has advanced equipment for the precise sectioning of all medical devices, using paraffin, plastic thin microtomy, plastic EXAKT ground sectioning, and SEM techniques.

APS' new 20,000 square feet biocompatibility, toxicology, pharmacology, and pain research facility, completed in 2012, has comprehensive in-vitro and in-vivo capabilities including an expansive small animal vivarium able to house thousands of small animals equipped with the latest in ventilated caging and environmental monitoring systems.
